At ELM Foundation, mentorship is more than just guidance—it’s a transformative experience that empowers children to discover their voice, express themselves through art, and develop skills that extend far beyond the studio. By fostering meaningful connections and fostering a love for creativity, mentorship plays a vital role in shaping the future generation of artists and community leaders.

Artist Mentorship

Throughout our programming, established artists from our ELM Family of mentors offer technical skills and insights into the creative process and professional art practices.

Career Mentorship

Mentors provide practical advice on pursuing a career in the arts, and personal projects, including portfolio development, networking, and navigating the art world.

Personal Development

Beyond art techniques, mentors help students build confidence, resilience, and critical thinking. They serve as role models, encouraging self-expression and growth through creative exploration.

“ELM has amazing stimulating classes with unique and specialized art projects and exploration of medium, and wonderful, attentive and inspiring mentors and support staff!

Impact of Mentorship

Skill Development

Personalized guidance helps students enhance their artistic abilities, explore new mediums, and refine techniques, fostering continuous growth.

Community Development

Mentors connect students with the broader arts community, facilitating collaboration, exhibitions, and public art projects, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Long-term Support

Mentorship relationships extend beyond the ELM classroom, providing ongoing support and encouragement as students navigate their creative paths, higher education, and in some cases paid internship and artist assistant opportunities.

ARTIST MENTORS

Dedication. Expertise. Passion.

Our artist mentors—past and present—represent a wide range of disciplines, practices, and mediums. What unites them is a shared belief that access to arts education is essential to a child’s development and well-being.
