FREE KIDS WORKSHOP
Ages 10 and up
In this mixed-media workshop, we will uncover the beauty and power in material we can easily find in our daily life. We will use material from our every day to explore the relationship between color, texture, pattern, volume, imagery —and how does the composition of these elements enhance atmosphere, emotion, and theme? Transparent and opaque, imagery from an old magazine and patterns from a torn t-shirt, drawn lines, and pasted paper—how do these disjointed elements come together to represent what the artist wants to express?
After looking closely and discussing the works of Etty Yaniv's mixed media sculptures and John O'Connor's intricate large drawing, you will combine various palettes, techniques, materials, and patterns at the workshop. Then you will have the opportunity to take home your work of art and keep working on it, expanding it by including your own materials.
