About the Event

In this 8 week course, learn DJ fundamentals with DJ Ali Colemen from Family Dance Brooklyn. Students will become familiar with DJ software and equipment and the basics of mixing tracks to build their own setlist.

Description: ELM Foundation along with Family Dance Brooklyn invites you to the 2023 Winter class, Kids On Decks!

Learn DJ fundamentals from software to equipment, and mixing skills. Do you have what it takes to be the next generation on the decks? Come give it a try with this introductory class.

Ages 10 -15!  (or with special permission)

DJ Ali Colemen from Family Dance Brooklyn, will introduce students to the Pioneer Rev1 decks, Serato DJ software, and basics of mixing tracks to build your own setlist.

On January 27th during our combined fall/winter student showcase we’ll celebrate with a dance party, where friends and family can dance the day away as you show off your new DJ skills.

REGISTRATION

Class size is limited to 10 to allow more "hands on decks!"

CLASS DATES AND SCHEDULE

Day 1 - Thursday, November 30st, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Day 2 - Thursday, December 7th, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Day 3 - Thursday, December 14th, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Day 4 - Thursday, December 21st, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Day 5 - Thursday, January 4th, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Day 6 - Thursday, January 11th, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Day 7 - Thursday, January 18th, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Day 8 - Thursday, January 25th, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Due to the amount of interest and limited space in the class, we ask that your student is committed to attending all of the classes. Please check your calendars and verify the dates work. While we do understand things come up, please let us know in advance if you must miss class and we will do our best to schedule make up time so that they do not fall behind on the lessons.

We are a young and growing 501c3 non profit, being such we depend on our community for support to keep our programming running while providing quality education with dedicated art instructors.  Our students vary in socio-economic backgrounds and our goal is to make arts education free to all youth. If your family is in a position to make an additional donation we would accept it with great appreciation.  Donations are tax deductible and 100% goes to sustain the continuation of our class programming.
