About the Event

ELM Foundation along with Family Dance Brooklyn invites you to the 2023 Session 1 class, Kids On Decks. 

Ages 10 and up! 

The first 3 classes will be taught by DJ Ali Colemen from Family Dance Brooklyn. He will guide you around the Pioneer Rev1 decks using Serato DJ software. 

The next 3 class will be taught by Derrick Braxton, a record producer and composer from New Brunswick, NJ. Derrick will give you the ins and outs of Serato Studio leading you to build your own beats and learn music production. 

The last class will be practice and prep for the friends and family showcase on April 23rd.  

On April 23rd we will celebrate with a dance party where friends and family can dance the day away as you show off your new DJ skills.

CLASS Dates and Schedual 

Optional New Student Open House - Saturday February 4th 1-3pm

If you and your family are new to ELM Foundation and want to tour our facilites and meet the team please join us during this open house, we would love to meet you!

Day 1 - Saturday, February 18th 1-3 pm

*Special invitation to join an after class ELM event*    On this same day we will be celebrating our ELM Foundation Birthday! This community party will be from 4-6pm.  More details soon! 

Day 2 - Saturday, February 25th  1-3 pm

Day 3 - Saturday, March 4th 1-3 pm

Day 4 - Saturday, March11th 1-3 pm

Day 5 - Saturday, March 18th 1-3 pm

Day 6 - Saturday, March 25th 1-3 pm

Day 7 - Saturday, April 1st 1-3 pm

*No Class for Spring Break

(Optional Practice Open Studio April, 22nd, time TBA)

REGISTRATION

Class size is limited to 10 to allow more hands on decks! 

Due to the amount of interest and limited space in the class we ask that your child is committed to attending all of the classes. Please check your calendars and verify the dates work.  While we do understand things come up, please let us know in advance if you must miss class and we will do our best to schedule make up time so that they do not fall behind on the lessons.

ELM Foundation is dedicated to free arts education

We are a young and growing 501c3 non profit, being such we depend on our community for support to keep our programming running while providing quality education with dedicated art instructors.  Our students vary in socio-economic backgrounds and our goal is to make arts education free to all youth. If your family is in a position to make an additional donation we would accept it with great appreciation.  Donations are tax deductible and 100% goes to sustain the continuation of our class programming.
