About the Event

Learn how to make a ZINE with Heige! You can write a poem, make drawings, protest, and share what you care about in a ZINE!

Join us for a Zine making Steam Works, led by “Echoes Are Visible” exhibiting Artist in The Boiler, Heige Kim. Monday, Aug. 22nd, 5 pm - 7 pm. Students ages 10 and up will learn how to use readily available materials around them to create Zines that they can share with friends and family.

In this Zine Making workshop, current exhibiting Artist in “Echoes Are Visible” at The Boiler, Heige Kim will teach participants, 10 years old and up, how to use readily available materials around them to create Zines that they can share with friends and family.

Students will be using colored pencils, markers, paper, recycled magazines, newspapers, printers, photocopiers, and other supplies provided by ELM Foundation, to create their Zine.

Optional: Bring your own copies of photographs, personal art, reusable magazines, newspapers, etc. to adorn your zine and share with others.

Introducing Steam Works!

Our ongoing Art Education program “Steam Works” combines The Boiler and ELM Foundation programming, and exemplifies our “Arts Community Empowering Community Arts” endeavor by providing students the opportunity to learn directly from each exhibiting artist. We hope to inspire the next generation of artists and creatives through free workshops and classes that focus on the specialty, media, or discipline of the current Boiler Artist’s works. With each unique experience, we strive to promote the transformative power of art.
