About the Event
FREE WORKSHOP
Our ongoing Art Education program “Steam Works” combines The Boiler and ELM Foundation programming, and exemplifies our “Arts Community Empowering Community Arts” endeavor by providing students the opportunity to learn directly from each exhibiting artist. We hope to inspire the next generation of artists and creatives through free workshops and classes that focus on the specialty, media, or discipline of the current Boiler Artist’s works.
In our upcoming Steam Works, exhibiting artist Fernando Ruíz Lorenzo will be demonstrating the skills of painting with aerosol cans. With lessons in process and “can control” exercises attendees will learn how to create their own small abstract aerosol paintings.
Using his works on display in our gallery, Steam Works attendees will also learn of the connection between Puerto Rico and New York City and how this informs Fernando’s artistic process.
Ages, Kids 10 and Up
Water based paint will be used in this workshop. Attendees are recommended to wear clothing and shoes that will look good with any accidental drips and splatters of paint.
With each unique experience, we strive to promote the transformative power of art.
